@Philralph Hi! Thanks for that. I just re-add them and checked that, at least for me, the coordinates show the correct location of Bangladesh in South Asia. Can you confirm? By the way, while we're at it, I wanted to let you know that the reason I sometimes add coordinates to pages is because without them, Appropedia needs to retrieve the coordinates again and again from https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org which isn't a problem in itself, but if you multiply that for every page with a location, it adds up to many external requests which slow down the site and consume unnecessary electricity. Pages without coordinates are listed at Category:Pages with no coordinates along with instructions on how to "fix" them. Cheers! Sophivorus (talk) 14:04, 12 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Sophivorus, I just put back most recent news to Cosmolocalism. I'm generally now avoiding using {{CURRENTYEAR}}, but there are probably some pages that I haven't caught up with yet, after the actual year change, which I'm intending to put back to the date of whatever is latest news. Hope I've explained this ok? Philralph (talk) 14:58, 12 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dear Felipe,
We would like to get an estimate of cost and time for upgrading a MediaWiki based site running on AWS.
The current production site runs on Amazon Linux 1 (AL AMI 2018.03), Apache/2.2.34, MediaWiki 1.11.2, PHP 5.2.17 and MySQL 5.7.44 on AWS RDS. We have a few own developed extensions using $wgParser and maybe other obsoleted MediaWiki features.
The plan is to upgrade to a site running on Amazon Linux 2023 (AL2023) and the latest versions of MediaWiki (1.41.x), PHP, Apache and MySQL.
If you are interested, we can send you a link to hold a Zoom meeting.
Please let us know.
With best regards
Joel L. Sussman & Jaime Prilusky
@TomStanton Hi Tom! I'd be happy to fix it, but I'm not sure what link you mean. My edit to that page was this one, which doesn't seem to add a link. I checked my recent edits to other pages too, but I don't think I added Instagram links anywhere. Can you verify? Cheers! Sophivorus (talk) 18:09, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, Sophivorus. It was the instagram link further down the page that does not work. I am working on this now with Emilio, to try to get it fixed. TomStanton (talk) 18:52, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Sophivorus, I saw that you just put back the references heading on Ealing community action. I'm in the process of changing this throughout CASwiki, so's doesn't appear in headings (menu) and saves space. Similarly with 'See also's' though not done so many of these. Both of these in the menu seems over fussy to me and not likely to be of interest (as needing it's own internal link). Philralph (talk) 15:02, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Sophivorus, over the weekend there's been a spate of vandalism, removing redirects. Have blocked the user and manually reverting the redirects. There are some other edits by this user which you may want to check out. Philralph (talk) 16:55, 15 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Sophivorus, think this is recent, possibly since the software upgrade. Although a straightforward (just page title) excerpt seems to still work ok, not working if call a specific section. Up 'till now I've been changing these manually when I see them, as it puts whole article or large sections in, so very disruptive, but is there a better way of fixing this? Example at Nevada community action#Las Vegas water supply, Thanks, Philralph (talk) 18:03, 15 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Sophivorus thanks very much for recent fixes. I'm wondering about a few templates which might be really useful for the large number of CASwiki place articles, but would this interfere in anyway with SEO if used for introductory paragraphs?
The four types I'm thinking of, with examples and variables are:

Hi. The portal started off as ZeroCovid with strong link to Spanish group. It's now Aerosol_pandemic with fully global view. So it's appropriate to change the logo. I need to think of a new logo, combining the notions of "pandemic" and "aerosol", maybe a shape of the virus, a spray and the world like this đ so no view point on specific continents. Will look for a design. How would I change it, just like a normal image? Thanks. LucasG (talk) 14:48, 17 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@LucasG Hi, that makes sens! Yes, just change it like a normal image and ping me when you do. I can take care of updating the "cover" image based on what you do. Looking forward to it, cheers! Sophivorus (talk) 14:55, 17 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
H5N1 microscope Thanks! Maybe change whole portal to plural "Aerosol_pandemics", as it's different viruses? If not too big a hassle. Thanks a lot in any case! LucasG (talk) 21:15, 22 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi! No problem, I just renamed Aerosol pandemic to Aerosol pandemics as well as all the subpages, category, menu template, etc. Feel free to look around for any links I might have missed, but I left redirects behind so nothing should be broken. I also changed the image for the new one. In the menu, I left out the text per unnecessary and redundant, but I did include it in the cover. BTW, the current cover is only a placeholder (we'll do a better one soon) and is part of a change of strategy we're implementing in Appropedia, whereas we'd like to start repackaging coherent groups of pages (such as yours) as "publications", and thus build a library focused on sustainability and poverty reduction (any input welcome!). Lastly, regarding the Spanish version, I started renaming it to "Pandemias aerosoles" but then I thought "Pandemias de aerosoles" would be a better wording in Spanish so I stopped mid-way. What do you prefer? Cheers! Sophivorus (talk) 14:55, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Intrigued by the "publication" strategy. "Pandemias por aerosoles" would be the best name for the Spanish. I'll look at all all the pages & links as soon as possible. Thank you so so much. Given the dates, I'll take your assistance as a seasonal gift. Thank you! LucasG (talk) 15:05, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
