The World Carfree Day, is a car free day promoted (though not organized [1]) by the World Carfree Network, promotes improvement of mass transit, alternative transport especially cycling and walking, and the development of communities where jobs are close to home and shopping is within walking distance.
It is held on September 22 every year.
The day encourages motorists to give up their cars for a day. Organized events are held in some cities and countries. The events, which vary by location, give motorists and commuters an idea of their locality with fewer cars. W
