The rocket stove at Rancho Mastatal
An adobe rocket stove cooks many of the meals at Rancho Mastatal . The rocket stove was built using the justa stove design. Rocket stoves are improved cookstoves that usually use fuel more efficiently and produce less emissions than a three stone cooking fire .
Wood is inserted into the chambers on the side of the stove. The flames rise through a chimney, and the heat escapes through the top opening, where it can be used to cook food.
This is an image of the grill and chimney.
This is an image of the side chamber where the fuel is added.
