Propuesta de diseño[edit source]

¡Hola Felipe!

@Emilio Hola! Me parecieron excelentes tus cambios.

Hi - I noticed you were dropping the source for our paper related project pages to the bottom - would be it be ok to leave them as is - as for the paper pages the main thing is the paper itself...and then for those that do have hardware involved we always have the links to the CAD, BOM, etc. up there as well.--Joshua Pearce (talk) 15:21, 11 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@J.M.Pearce Hi! Yes, sorry, I just moved them back to the top. While we're at it, notice that when hovering over a link to one of your papers (for example Sponsored Libre Research Agreements to Create Free and Open Source Software and Hardware) the content of the initial header is shown. Google also has trouble figuring out the right preview to show, see this link. If you want to fix this, we should first convert your headers (Template:MOST and Template:Pearce-pubs) to use one of the standard header templates, such as Template:Header or Template:Notice. But that is not enough. In order for the previews to display correctly, there should be some text without any heading. For example, we could delete the Source and Abstract headings (just the headings, not the content) so that the source and the abstract become the text without heading. Also, we should consider developing an infobox for your articles, to display the keywords, DOI number, and other meta data in a more structured format. What do you think? Sophivorus (talk) 16:03, 11 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you! Yes let's do this right -- can you let me know what you need to fix the MOST, and Pearce-pubs templates - and then we can move the source-abstract above other headings. Interested in what you have in mind for an article infobox too. --Joshua Pearce (talk) 18:23, 11 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@J.M.Pearce Awesome! I think something like Template:Pearce-pubs/sandbox should do. Check out the documentation at Template:Notice for styling options and let me know your thoughts! Sophivorus (talk) 13:22, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@J.M.Pearce Hi again! I just did some changes to Sponsored Libre Research Agreements to Create Free and Open Source Software and Hardware replacing your standard templates for Template:Pearce-pubs/sandbox, Template:MOST/sandbox and the new Template:Google translate, and removing the Source and Abstract headings. I'm still working on it (tomorrow I'll finish) but if you want to share some thoughts or feedback already, please do so. Cheers! Sophivorus (talk) 15:43, 15 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

New templates[edit source]

Hi -- I saw the new templates you were working on -- I think the google translate one looks great and is ready to go - should probably integrate it into the {{MOST}} one. The MOST one - can we make the Husky image bigger and make it a hyperlink that leads back to the main category page? Same with the publications template - it looks good - but it would be better to have the book image a little larger and link back to it specifically -- Thanks --Joshua Pearce (talk) 17:03, 15 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@J.M.Pearce Hi, I'm glad you're liking the progress so far! Today I did another round of improvements, check out Template:MOST/sandbox, Template:Pearce-pubs/sandbox and Sponsored Libre Research Agreements to Create Free and Open Source Software and Hardware, especially on mobile devices! I added some parameters to Template:Notice to set the size and a link for the image. Note however that because of usability reasons, when a link is set for an image, the image is hidden from view on mobile devices. If you want it to display on mobile devices, you'll have to give up the link. Next I'll try to tackle the infobox, let me know your thoughts! Sophivorus (talk) 15:04, 16 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Now all of the templates look great on a computer - for the mobile - it looks like both the image and the link disappear. Is there anyway to keep the computer version as it is - and for the mobile choose one or the other? --Joshua Pearce (talk) 16:08, 16 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@J.M.Pearce Hi! Do you mean displaying a clickable image while on desktop, and displaying a non-clickable image or a plain link while on mobile? If so, then I'm afraid it's quite tricky and I don't quite see the way to do it yet. In the meantime, maybe we can repeat the link in the body of the templates, so that users can find it while on mobile? I mean something like what I just did at Template:Pearce-pubs/sandbox? Sophivorus (talk) 13:22, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@J.M.Pearce Hi again, hope you're well! I've done a first version of the infobox I mentioned earlier, check it out at Sponsored Libre Research Agreements to Create Free and Open Source Software and Hardware, especially on mobile devices! I've called it Template:Infobox paper for now, but let me know if "publication" or "article" would be a more appropriate term for your work. If you check out the code you'll notice it contains a call to Template:Cite journal to generate the citation code, but also adds some extra feature like keywords and SDGs. The nice thing about infoboxes is that once all relevant pages use them, we can easily link to related content, add semantic markup and do all sorts of magic by editing only a few pages. Looking forward to your reply! Sophivorus (talk) 14:34, 25 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@J.M.Pearce Hi again! You probably noticed that User:PedroK has been adding databoxes to some of your MOST pages. I trust it's welcome work, but I asked him to pause until we finish our talk here. May I ask you to take a fresh look at Sponsored Libre Research Agreements to Create Free and Open Source Software and Hardware and share your thoughts? Notice that I've phased out Template:Google translate since the automatic translations are now included in Template:Page data. Looking forward to your reply! Problem with Peoplesfoodpolicy menu?[edit source]

Following your recent edit to Template:Peoplesfoodpolicy menu, I'm not sure why most of the internal links now don't seem to work? Philralph (talk) 15:17, 19 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi. It seems that the page A People's Food Policy doesn't exist. Emilio (talk) 15:58, 19 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think I found the issue. You've used a different symbol for the apostrophe. See A People's Food Policy. It would be a matter of deciding which is best for users, perhaps using a regular ' symbol? Emilio (talk) 16:00, 19 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It still comes up for me via the link on Community action for sustainability UK#UK topics Philralph (talk) 16:39, 19 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OK, so I've changed the title in the template, but will wait on Sophivorus's reply before doing the rest, Philralph (talk) 16:56, 19 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Philralph Hi! I just fixed the rest of the apostrophes, sorry for the mistake, cheers! Sophivorus (talk) 15:09, 21 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
