Doll or manikin is a manufactured doll or manikin used in surgical simulation as a ready-made body base — providing a torso or a limb, a skin surface and landmarks such as the umbilicus that a build then modifies. Two forms are documented here. One is a low-cost neonatal vinyl baby doll: its surface stands in for newborn skin and its abdominal wall is incised to create the simulated defect. The other is a ghost-mannequin leg — a shop-display mannequin leg used as the anatomical support for a limb, which the build then fills and re-skins itself.

Limb Synthetic Tourniquet Training Model (Souza Lima) Leg of a ghost mannequin, which the source describes as functioning as anatomical support: the plastic leg is used as a shell, filled with upholstery foam and coated on the outside with a 60 × 40 cm ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) sheet that serves as the skin. The abstract's material list names a leg and an arm, but the build described uses only the leg. No separate price, size or supplier is given for the leg — the whole model cost R$49.60, which the paper converts to US$11.50 (2019).[2]
