Safety Issues With Method

  • High-speed rotating tools can cause serious injuries.
  • Electrical hazards from the CNC machine.
  • Risk of flying debris and dust.

Personal protective equipment

PPE is to keep YOU safe so that you can keep doing what you want to do.

  1. Safety glasses – always required
  2. Hearing protection – recommended due to noise levels
  3. Dust mask – to avoid inhalation of dust
  4. Protective gloves – when handling materials and tools
  5. Close-toed shoes and long pants

SDS and other

Knowing what chemicals are in the lab and how they interact with each other is critical when accidents happen.

  1. Appropriate SDS sheets should be viewed online.
  2. Note the hazards listed on the door to the lab. If you introduce any new equipment or materials you must clear them with the responsible person listed on the lab door. If the responsible person is out of date, contact the departmental administrators to get it updated.

Calibration & Tolerances

  • Ensure the CNC machine is level and secure.
  • Calibrate the machine according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Verify the steps per millimeter for each axis.
  • Check spindle runout and adjust if necessary.

Operation & Procedure

Pre-Check:

  • Ensure the CNC machine is powered on by checking the control box and emergency stop (E-stop).
  • Inspect the work-bed. If it needs to be replaced, a new work-bed is stored under the table.
Check all wires going into green connectors by tugging on them. This includes the wires to the green motor connectors, green connector from the power supply, and the green connector coming from the E-stop button.
Ensure all cables are connected properly.
Connecting to the CNC: * Locate the USB cable connected to the control box. Ensure all cables are connected properly. * Connect the USB cable to your laptop.

Screw on the work-bed securely.
If a probe change is required, the probes are stored under the table. Use a wrench to unscrew the current probe and install the new one.

Launching gSender: * Open the gSender application on your laptop. * (In the top-left corner of the app, ensure the CNC machine is connected.)
Axis Zeroing and File Loading:- Load the job file in gSender.- Zero the machine’s axes (X, Y, and Z) according to the PCB’s position on the work-bed. This ensures precise alignment before starting the job.
Operation and Monitoring:- Once the machine is properly zeroed, start the job.- Adjust the speed (fasten or slow down) depending on the build requirements. - Continuously monitor the CNC operation and be prepared to stop the machine in case of any issues.
Here is where you start the drill.
Shutdown1. Turn off the CNC machine.2. Disconnect the machine from the power source.3. Clean the work area and dispose of any waste properly. 4. Store tools and materials in their designated places.
