Hi @Sophivorus, can you help me create a template for Cosmolocal discovery club, live example at Malling community action#Cosmolocal discovery club currently being tested out. I'm very keen to test out having this particular kind of more dynamic content towards the top of some place/location articles both to help nudge up views, and also to see whether any actual face to face clubs might then become a possibility. Very early days yet but some small sign of upward trend for views of Malling community action.

Ideally I'd like to test this out on say a handful of UK location perhaps, and perhaps also a handful of (rest of the) world locations (maybe cities), but to do this I'd need a template.

I tried just putting it on a card, but of course not full screen width. I'm thinking easiest way to update (once a week) is just to paste the 3 videos details in, in one go, then separately (so's video details limited to authors, etc.) internal links to relevant pages. Some kind of title bar might be an idea, and not essential for title to appear in page contents, as would go quite well at the end of any networks or similar section. @Philralph Hi! Yes I can help, but I'm not sure I fully understand what you want yet. As far as I understand, what you want is a template that you can insert in several UK pages, so that you can show the same 3 videos on all UK pages, and be able to easily update them from a single location. Hi @Sophivorus, yes that looks absolutely perfect for UK videos. Just thinking longer term I'm anticipating, (all of this built up slowly!) something along the lines of also Global videos, (any location outside of UK to start with), then maybe eventually Majority world videos, US videos, etc., then a separate set for some extremely broad topics. So I'm thinking of something like just one generic template (template cdc?), and the only thing that would vary to make the local or topic specific templates would be the (intro) text just below the heading. Hi @Sophivorus, sorry if my previous reply might have been confusing. Way too much overthinking on my part! Nothing further needed. Template UK videos is just fine and I've started using it. Later I'll set up Template Global videos modelled on the UK one. Then testing both those out for a few locations for a few months at least. Thanks ever so much. Hi @Sophivorus, I noticed just before Easter video displays meant to show 3 videos across a page only showing 2 at most, only one if there is map or image to the left. Examples at United States community action#Localism and Massachusetts community action, but looks widespread. Hopefully this can be restored to how it was? @Philralph Hi, thanks for the report! Should be fixed now, please do a hard refresh (Shift Ctrl R) and let me know. Also, by the way, I introduced a few new classes besides grid, namely grid-3, grid-4, grid-5 and grid-6, for making grids of (up to) 3, 4, 5 and 6 columns, respectively (so grid is just an alias for grid-3 now). @Philralph Hm, well, in Template:UK videos the thing is that the extra padding introduced by the card reduces the available space for videos below the minimum per column, so the grid responds by reducing the number of columns. Using grid-4 sets a lower minimum per column, so 3 videos fit. I think that's the best solution for these cases, actually. Sophivorus (talk) 14:29, 23 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Template request: 'latest news template' for News aggregator pages

Hi @Sophivorus, I'm hoping to try out some news aggregator pages, example at News Aggregator/Community networks. These could be done using card and newslist templates as in the example but as it's a standard format, something like with the following parameters would be really neat: File name=Southbank1.jpg|title=Community involvement|keyword=Community involvement, (Image optional). Similarly empty boxes on Community action#Events, Community action#Co-create, Community action UK#News and Community action UK#Co-create. @Philralph Hi! Apologies, it should be fixed now, but it will take a few hours to propagate through the entire site. Please note that I renamed the "content" parameter of Template:Card to "text", in order to make it more consistent with other templates. I could not figure out where on Appropedia I should put the link to the main page. I can understand why the poster was deleted, but could not find where I should put the suggested edit, instead of the "call" or link to the poster that you deleted. Sorry to be dense about this.

@TomStanton Hi! I'm afraid I don't quite understand your question... What "main page" do you mean? What "suggested edit"?

The pages I deleted were:

• Stanton Poster 1 -- Appropedia Research Project
• Stanton Poster 2 -- Appropedia Research Project -- Transportation Topic
• Stanton Poster 3 -- Energy Communities, Ecovillages, and Intentional Communities Information Sharing

I deleted them because their content was just an image each, and they were not linked from anywhere except your user page. So I thought it was probably better to just link to the images directly from your user page:

• File:20240822 stanton poster 2 for GEN-EU Expo.pdf
• File:20240822 stanton poster 3 for GEN-EU Expo.pdf

Hi @Sophivorus, I see that you've changed CASwiki navigation templates. Quite a few of them are showing without the layout, and error message "Page Template:Horizontal menu/styles.css has no content." Let me know if you need me to send screenshots.
