Mesentery is a double fold of peritoneum that suspends the small intestine from the posterior abdominal wall, relevant in simulation for bowel handling and mesenteric dissection training.
Materials
| Material | Visual | Tactile | Simulator | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flat Bed Sheet | Meckel's Diverticulectomy Simulator | Unrolled portion of the same bed sheet (~35.56 cm); the bunched end forms the mesentery root attachment to the bowel. | ||
| Cotton Stuffing | Acute Appendicitis Simulator | Cotton or gauze in plastic wrap forms the mesoappendix carrying the appendiceal artery. | ||
| Cloth, Knitted | - | - | Appendectomy Simulator | |
| Surgical mask (scrub-cap material) + red yarn | Open Appendectomy Simulator (Matthews) | Scrub-cap material folded around a length of red yarn forms the mesoappendix that carries the appendiceal artery.[1] |
