Uvula (uvula palatina) is the conical projection hanging from the posterior free edge of the soft palate.
In a cleft palate the uvula is typically bifid, which makes it the visible sign clinicians look for, and it marks the back of the palate where the released muscles are repositioned. The one published analogue that models it casts it in silicone as part of a disposable soft-tissue cartridge and labels it Uvula on its orientation diagram; the source does not state whether the cartridge reproduces the bifid form.[1][2]
