Subskill of Sager Traction Splint Application
mqdefault.jpgYouTube_icon.svg

The sager foot strap is utilized to secure the feet after tension has been placed via Sager traction splint and the legs have been secured via the elastic leg straps. The foot strap should be fed under both legs with equal lengths of strap on each side of the patient. The strap ends should then be lifted up and crossed, forming an "X". The point at which the straps meet should be placed between the patient's feet; this can be accomplished by moving the crossed straps inferiorly and wrapping them upwards around the outside edge of the patient's feet, meeting in the midline to form a "figure 8" pattern.
