Appropedia welcomes the WikiGreen community!

For the last few weeks, folks at WikiGreen and Appropedia have considered how best to collaborate on our shared goals. The decision: Assimilation! So, faster than you can build a strawbale greenhouse, nearly 1000 pages and over 1000 images have been migrated from WikiGreen to Appropedia. Woohoo! And yet, some tidying up remains. Please pardon our "dust" as we wrap up the integration.

Appropedia is a dynamic and open library wiki, focused on success in two core initiatives:

Reducing poverty through International Development
Increasing Sustainability through the use of Appropriate Technology

The material on this site is here free (as in speech) for your use! Use the search box at left, click on one of the categories in the table below, or browse all categories and all 14,670 articles. If you don't find what you're looking for, we would appreciate it if you would let us know on our Requested content page.

Main Areas

Project: In-country and academic projects e.g. Bathing water project, Madura, Indonesia, 2000 and UTC Solar Distiller
Organization: Organizations, e.g. Demotech, Practical Action and AIDG
Topic: Subject matter articles, e.g. Photovoltaics and Rainwater
Program: Schools, Summer Intensives, Classes, Workshops, e.g. Parras
How to: Step by step instructions, from how to Weld wood, to constructing a Home biogas system
Thesis: Thesis papers, e.g. Water management & culture in Indonesian cities
Coordination: For managing events, publications, projects, etc. e.g. Car-Free Day

Appropedia follows an open design approach. Anyone can write or edit articles, anyone can plant the seed of an idea that others will build upon. Any group can use these pages to work collaboratively.

We would like to include your projects, current works, observations and suggestions! If you've got an idea for a new article, please see our "Contributing content" page for some suggestions. You can also enrich existing articles by clicking on "edit" at the top of the page or section. The software is robust and forgiving, so Be Bold and contribute!
