About MeEdit

I am fourth year mechanical engineering student at Queen's University. In addition to my engineering major, I am completing a minor in global development studies (international development). I feel that these two diverse disciplines complement each other well and can be useful in promoting sustainable development. My technical interests include energy production and policy, international development, local technologies, biomimicry and green building design among others. I am also very interested in language and culture. My extra curricular experience has included work with Queen's Project on International Development, (QPID), a student run NGO which sends students on overseas projects each summer. On a more personal note, I enjoy a variety of hobbies including hockey, kiteboarding and outdoor sports.

Local Technology ExampleEdit

In my interests, I mention local technologies. Here is an example of what I mean. This is a video from the TED conference about ingenious technologies for water collection in India. These traditional methods have proven much more effective than many Western technologies implemented in the area at a fraction of the cost.
