About Me
[edit | edit source]I am currently a highly motivated third year Electrical Engineering student at Western University looking to gain research and work experience. I have maintained a high academic average while gaining hands-on experience through personal projects, where I developed skills like 3D Modeling, 3D Printing, Arduino, and programming.
Projects
[edit | edit source]Open-Source Universal Testing Machine (FAST Research Group)
[edit | edit source]Over the last summer, I continued the development of a open-source universal testing machine (UTM) at FAST Research Group as an NSERC USRA Undergraduate Researcher. Initially, the machine had troubles moving the gantry through its full range of motion. After reworking the entire motion system in Onshape with additional linear rails and proper end supports, the machine could achieve its full range of motion. This change also increased the maximum force output from 700N to over 1500N, while keeping measurement error of Ultimate Tensile Strength under 2% compared to a commercial machine. I also reworked the electronics, designing a more compact circuit while adding support for linear encoders or rotary encoders for more accurate gantry position measurements. Finally, I expanded upon the C++ Arduino firmware and Python GUI, adding support for features like automatic gantry leveling and frame deformation compensation while fixing bugs from untested functions.

3D Printers
[edit | edit source]I started with an Ender 3 which was purchased off a second hand marketplace. I rebuilt the printer due to the frame being skew and the movement system being inconsistent. It was also upgraded with an SKR Mini mainboard and BLTouch, with additional firmware tweaks to improve ease of use.

Afterwards, I started purchasing and repairing more 3D Printers off of second hand marketplaces, such as a Prusa MK2s that was in parts and non-functional. During my time working at the DCAC at BGC London, I was also tasked with repairing and maintaining two Anycubic Vyper 3D Printers, both of which had issues like hot end jams and inconsistent extrusions. Both printers were later upgraded with raspberry pi's for remote operation and monitoring with Octoprint.
Currently, I am working on upgrading an old Tronxy x5sa printer with Klipper, improved hotend and an improved motion system. It is currently using a slightly modified Voron Stealthburner hotend, SKR Mini mainboard and BLTouch for bed leveling. Future plans include adding linear rails, building an enclosure and implementing a better system for syncing the Z-axis motors.

FPV Drone
[edit | edit source]I built a DIY FPV drone using a combination of components from old, broken drones, and newly sourced components. The purpose of drone was to record smooth, cinematic footage through a mounted action camera that typical drones from brands like DJI could not. The drone was flashed with Betaflight, with continuous modifications being made to it to improve range, maintain stable flight and increase flight time.

DC Power Monitor For Medical Devices
[edit | edit source]In this group project, we built a power monitor capable of accurately tracking Voltage, Current and Power data accurately over a long period of time, integrating features like overvoltage protection and multiple power source options. During the showcase event, we were awarded the "Overall Showcase Top Design" and "Top Design in Category" awards among all first-year engineering students.

Water Level Monitor for Portable AC Units
[edit | edit source]This device was built to monitor the water level of the bucket collecting the water from the condensate line of portable AC units. It reports the water level in real time, and sends email alerts whenever the water level is above a certain threshold. A prototype was tested throughout the summer and resulted in zero overflows, with a final design being implemented for the next year.
