I'm Joe Torreggiani and I'm on a mission is to do the most good that I can do.
For over a decade, I have focused my career and research on solving a problem posed by R. Buckminster Fuller:
"make the world work for 100% of humanity in the shortest possible time through spontaneous cooperation without ecological damage or disadvantage to anyone"
That singular pursuit led me to a career in software engineering and contributing to impact-driven organizations across multiple sectors including educational technology, agricultural technology, health care, and financial services.
By day, I am a software engineer at Square, Inc., where I help build tools that empower people to participate and thrive in the economy. By night, I am a co-founder of Sustainable Progress and Equality Collective (SPEC), where we are empowering individuals to be catalysts for positive change through upskilling, participatory action research, and service-learning.
I am dedicated to doing everything that I can do to prevent and alleviate human suffering, protect the environment, and ensure the sustainability of human civilization. I believe we can overcome the most pressing problems facing the world through collaborative innovation and open source technologies. It is my hope to connect with and support sustainability and social justice initiatives, projects, researchers, and advocates.
