Gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped organ beneath the liver that stores and concentrates bile. The gallbladder wall is the thin, layered structure of mucosa, muscularis and serosa that lets the organ store and concentrate that bile. Clinically significant for its role in bile storage and release, the gallbladder is a common site of pathology (cholelithiasis, cholecystitis).
