Sand is a granular material used in medical simulation as ballast to stabilise simulators and provide realistic mass distribution. Not used to simulate specific tissues.

Tissue Visual Tactile Simulator Notes
Soft Tissue No No Sand-filled pouches provide weight in organ phantoms. Does not simulate tissue texture.
Bone Marrow Orthoplastic Reconstruction Simulator Mixed with vegetable oil and packed tightly inside plastic pipe segments to simulate bone medulla for external fixator placement training.
