TissueDB/Materials/Gaffer Tape
Gaffer Tape is a strong, cloth-backed pressure-sensitive adhesive tape with a matte finish; it tears cleanly by hand and peels away leaving little residue. In medical simulation it is layered over a substrate such as cellophane to provide puncture resistance: in the Man-O-War Chest Tube Simulator, gaffer tape moulded over cellophane along the intercostal spaces mimics the parietal pleura (Nasri et al. 2023).[1]

Overview
[edit source]Gaffer tape is a strong, cloth-backed pressure-sensitive adhesive tape with a matte, non-reflective finish. It has a coated fabric (scrim) backing and a synthetic-rubber adhesive, can be torn cleanly by hand both along and across its length, and is formulated to peel away leaving little or no residue. It is widely used in film, theatre and stage work to secure cables and fixtures temporarily.
