The Straw Holder is a lightweight, 3D printed device designed to help individuals with

disabilities who are unable to hold a straw steady while drinking. It fits onto the top of a cup or bottle and holds the straw securely in place, so the user does not need to grip or stabilize the straw themselves, making independent drinking easier and more reliable.

The holder is 3D printed using filament, with certain grades of PETG, PP (polypropylene), and specific types of PLA identified as food-contact compliant material choices suitable for a device that comes into direct contact with a drinking straw and beverage. To use, the holder is placed on top of a cup or bottle, and the straw is then inserted through the holder.

This design was developed for and used by students at Hilton Special School in Suva, Fiji, to support students needing assistance with drinking.
