Safe Paediatric Male Circumcision Simulator/Module 2: Simulator build
Materials
[edit | edit source]The materials required for the simulator should be assembled from the onset. These include:
- A strawboard or hard cardboard.
- Pre-cut cardboard in the form of a baby’s trunk and groin.
- Marker.
- Regular scissors.
- Feeding bottle nipple and ring. A regular feeding bottle with the usual narrow base be used.
- Adhesive Glue.
- Plasticine or soft clay.
- A soft narrow straw.
- A tray to keep the surgical instruments.
- Small sized curved and straight hemostats - two of each.
- One dissecting scissors.
- One toothed dissecting forceps.
- Needle driver.
- Plastibells - one of each size 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 cm sizes.
- 2mls Syringes and 23G needle.
- 2% plain lidocaine.
- Water for injection.
- Sterile gauze.
- 4 pieces of latex gloves.
- 4/0 sutures- cheap ones such as silk.
- Drape.
- Non-adherent Vaseline gauze.
- An adhesive Plaster.
