Materials

The materials required for the simulator should be assembled from the onset. These include:

  1. A strawboard or hard cardboard.
  2. Pre-cut cardboard in the form of a baby’s trunk and groin.
  3. Marker.
  4. Regular scissors.
  5. Feeding bottle nipple and ring. A regular feeding bottle with the usual narrow base be used.
  6. Adhesive Glue.
  7. Plasticine or soft clay.
  8. A soft narrow straw.
  9. A tray to keep the surgical instruments.
  10. Small sized curved and straight hemostats - two of each.
  11. One dissecting scissors.
  12. One toothed dissecting forceps.
  13. Needle driver.
  14. Plastibells - one of each size 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 cm sizes.
  15. 2mls Syringes and 23G needle.
  16. 2% plain lidocaine.
  17. Water for injection.
  18. Sterile gauze.
  19. 4 pieces of latex gloves.
  20. 4/0 sutures- cheap ones such as silk.
  21. Drape.
  22. Non-adherent Vaseline gauze.
  23. An adhesive Plaster.
