If you've ever used a suture pad, you know they're hard to use, don't last very long, and get dirty very easily. Also, they are incredibly difficult to remove sutures from when you want to practice from the beginning again. In this video, we break down a setup that costs less than $10, but is durable, effective, and simple to make for students. Although we call it an "alternative", we believe that this suture board can be more effective than a suture pad at practicing needle angles and shouldn't be looked at as an "alternative", but another tool to add to the arsenal.
