The goal of the SELF simulator-based training module on intestinal resection and anastomosis for pediatric intestinal obstruction is to equip health professionals working in resource-constrained settings with the core judgment, technical principles, and safety skills needed to relieve obstruction, resect non-viable bowel, and restore intestinal continuity when appropriate, while minimizing complications and recognizing when damage-control or referral is the safer option.
The module emphasizes decision-making under constraint, tissue respect, and anastomotic safety, rather than speed or advanced technology.
