Elephants are one of the most affected species by habitat loss

Habitat loss refers to the reduction in the amount of space where a particular species, or group of species can survive and reproduce. Habitat loss is a consequence of human activities such as agriculture, urbanization, deforestation, resource extraction, alteration of the sea-floor due to trawling (fishing), or the release of pollutants.

Environmnetal changes such as Tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, changes on sea level or climate, which in today's time is mostly do to human activities. Habitat loss decreases biodiversity, alters especies ranges and interactions.

Possible solutions[edit | edit source]

There are many ways in which you can help solving habitat loss including:

  • controlling invasive species,
  • responsible fishing
  • getting the most out of your own habitat.
