Global Field Ready Portfolio/Duoband Yagi Antenna

From Appropedia
A Duoband Yagi Antenna

This product consists of custom, 3D printed parts designed to aid the accurate construction of a standard duoband Yagi antenna. Rather than being a complete antenna design in itself, it provides bespoke fittings that enable quick and easy assembly of the antenna structure, supporting builders in achieving consistent, accurate results when constructing the design.

The 3D printed parts are intended to be used alongside the standard duoband Yagi antenna design, available [here]. They are designed to work with aluminum tube elements, holding and aligning them during assembly.

  • Increasing infill percentage during printing will produce a more robust, durable part.
  • Increasing print resolution is recommended, particularly if the aluminum tubing being used does not have a uniform diameter, as tighter tolerances improve fit.
  • Parts should be printed in the orientation already set in the provided STL files.
  • These parts have long, flat base surfaces, which can be prone to warping or peeling during printing. Pre-heating the print bed is recommended where the printer supports it; if the bed is unheated, using BuildTak or an equivalent adhesion surface is recommended to prevent warping.

Manuals

[edit | edit source]

Field Ready develops manuals to support both the fabrication and safe use of its products. A maker manual provides step-by-step instructions for replicating the design, including materials, tools, and assembly guidance, so that makers in different locations can build the product accurately and consistently. A user manual, where applicable, explains how to properly set up, use, and maintain the product once it is built, helping ensure it performs safely and as intended for the end user. Together, these manuals make the design accessible to both fabricators and the people who ultimately rely on the product.
