About the challenge

[edit | edit source]

Young people around the world are facing cascading crises and growing uncertainty. The Global Permyouth connects young people aged between 11-16 around the world - from England, Europe, Asia, Americas, Africa, Australia... and youth in refugee camps too. They meet weekly via zoom, collaborate on projects, make films, create art, write songs and poems, garden and design, speak up locally, organise camps, and are developing a fabulous global learning and support community of positive [pr]activists Inspired youth can make the difference that makes a difference.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Each week young people from around the world gather together via zoom to explore what permaculture means in their local context, to learn about different ways of thinking about it and applying it. We are based at Crystal Waters Permaculture village and connect young people in other ecovillages and permaculture communities and projects around the world. This group is led by young people for young people, with Mentors from around the world too

  • Morag Gamble, Rosemary Morrow, Hannah Apricot Eckberg, Sierra Robinson, Charlie McGee, Fritjof Capra, Nora Bateson and many more to come. They also organise a weekly newsletter, a monthly online festival, local camps, a youtube channel, and raise funds for the Permayouth clubs in refugee camps and villages. So far they have helped raise enough money to support many classes and to train new teachers too
  • and buy tools, seeds, watering cans, watertanks and a sewing machine
  • plus cameras, microphones and guitars to share stories from these refugee communities. We teach each other how to be good communicators and storytellers. We share ideas and inspire each other with global thinking and local action. We feel connected. We feel we can make a difference. We welcome you to come and join us (ages 11-16 ish).
