The Fixed Handrail is a wall-mounted support rail designed to assist with daily activities such as bathing and toileting, providing a stable point of support to improve mobility and reduce fall risk. Unlike the foldable handrail, this version is permanently fixed in place rather than collapsible.
The rail is constructed from a single length of 20 mm diameter steel pipe, cut to 100 cm and bent at each end to form a final rail length of 60 cm and a stand-off height of 5 to 7 cm from the wall. The pipe is welded into the mounting plate using electrical arc welding, then cleaned with an angle grinder. Fabrication uses a pipe bender, hole saw, cut-off saw, angle grinder, and bench drill, with a total production time of approximately 120 minutes.
The handrail is installed by fixing the mounting plate directly to a bathroom or toilet wall using M6 threaded fixings.
