incomplete urls in iwm?[edit source]
Is there a reason that $1 is left off entries in the second part of the Interwiki map? As it is, interwiki links using those prefixes, e.g. Why:Worldview Risk Management, only link to the homepage. Easy enough to fix, but wanted to check first. Thanks. --Chriswaterguy · talk 13:49, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure why none of them have $1 at the end. This list was taken directly from Meatball Wiki's [1] page. Sorry, I didn't realize that they didn't work. I remember questioning that myself, but just trusted the source and unfortunately didn't look into it. If you would like all of these to have $1 at the end, I'll fix that. -GoodSignal 23:11, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
I just experimented a little to find that some of them work just fine without the $1 and some don't.
MeatBall:WhyWikiWorks works without $1 following the pattern in the interwiki table http://www.usemod.com/cgi-bin/mb.pl?WhyWikiWorks
EmacsWiki:Chord doesn't work even though the address http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki?Chord works. But after creating a entry, EmacsWiki2 with $1
EmacsWiki2:Chord works.
We may want to just ditch this Other Interwiki Links list altogether. I probably found twenty dead sites before finding these two examples to work with. -GoodSignal 00:15, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
language links in the Wikimedia Foundation Links[edit source]
I've noticed that we've imported the interlanguage linking from Wikipedia. E.g. :id:Teknologi tepat guna currently links to the Indonesian Wikipedia: id:Teknologi tepat guna.
The normal way things work is that language prefixes link to the relevant language in the same project, e.g. in Wikibooks, the id prefix links to the Indonesian Wikibooks.
Since we're hoping to support multiple languages, we should at least remove the Wikipedia interlanguage links from the Wikimedia Foundation Links. Then at least I can, for example, create pages starting with id: in order to clearly distinguish Indonesian pages, until such time as we create separate subdomains like Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wiktionary etc. --Chriswaterguy · talk 17:32, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
I have taken the Wikimedia Foundation Links out of update script. Hopefully it works as desired now. We may need to manually enter some in the list that we happen to use. -GoodSignal 23:14, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

MediaWiki[edit source]
mw: doesn't work, e.g. mw:Extension:RoboHelp2Wiki. --Chriswaterguy · talk 22:11, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Works now. mw wasn't in the table. -GoodSignal 00:01, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Missing W[edit source]
The W:Page is missing. Wikipedia:Page is still working. Examples: W:Page vs Wikipedia:Page. This affected Wikipedia p, so I replaced the links there to the full length interwiki link. Thank you, --Lonny 18:54, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure whether or not I like having "w:" in the table. "Wikipedia:" is much clearer to anyone reading the code, or looking at popup text over the link (maybe depending on the browser). --Chriswaterguy · talk 07:29, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- I removed two [[ characters from the heading of this comment because they were causing strange problems (the section edit link did not appear, and it was difficult to link to this section from elsewhere with the funny characters in the way). --Teratornis 14:22, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- I like the w: link, it's very handy for linking to pages on Wikipedia from within edit summaries.W The limited number of available characters in an edit summary means the long wikipedia: prefix does not always fit. I think w: is clear enough; it's a very common prefix on non-Wikipedia wikis. Anyone who doesn't understand it will figure it out after the first click. --Teratornis 17:27, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

awareness wiki dead[edit source]
this page is locked, but i wanted to call attention to the fact that the awareness wiki is dead --David.reber 22:13, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks David. We need to keep this page locked as errors will affect the entire wiki - leaving a note here is good. What is the "awareness wiki"? I couldn't see it on the interwiki map. --Chriswaterguy · talk 15:05, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry Guys. I deleted it and forgot to leave a message here (see the history of the Interwiki map page). -Lonny 15:34, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
SpecialInterwiki[edit source]
Wikimedia Australia is using mw:Extension:SpecialInterwiki, which provides a public list of the interwiki map. It also allows sysops to make changes to the interwiki map and these changes are publicly logged. see wmau:Special:Version, wmau:Special:Interwiki and wmau:Special:Log/interwiki. Jayvdb 17:21, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks Jayvdb - we definitely want an extension to do this, IMO, and that looks great. Just need the resources to make it happen, and that's getting closer now...
- mw:Extension:BlueSpice is another one that does this, and it's used on http://knowledge.desertec.org/wiki/. It apparently makes a lot of admin tasks easier (and makes a number of server admin tasks into wiki admin tasks). Any opinion on this one? --Chriswaterguy 07:05, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Add "M"[edit source]
A lot of imported Wikipedia templates have links to "M:" pages, e.g. M:help:User style (18 wikilinks so far). I expect a lot more templates imports in future.
So, "M" needs to be the same as "Meta"
i.e.
| M || http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/$1 |-

[edit source]
Hi, I would like to suggest new Interwiki links related to public transport and transport informatics:
- the Ideas in Transit wiki - http://www.ideasintransit.org/wiki. It has 200+ good pages relevant to public transit innovation. I expect at least 10 of them could be relevant to existing Appropedia pages in these areas.
- Suggested Interwiki map:- IdeasInTransit
- The TransitWiki wiki - http://www.transitwiki.org . Somewhat focused on both a USA perspective rather than global, and more operational planning perspective than re public transport's role in improving environmental sustainability - but still useful.
- Suggested Interwiki map:- TransitWiki

Moving to the Appropedia namespace[edit source]
Would something break if this is moved? --Emilio (talk) 00:34, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
