Hello!
My name is Yuezhuo Xie. I am a 2nd-year Mechatronics + AISE Engineering student at Western University. I am passionate about hands-on design and dedicated to using engineering techniques to create sustainable and practical solutions!
In the 2024–2025 academic year, through my ES1050 course, I worked with a six-member engineering team on the Open Source Filament Recycling Program in collaboration with FAST (Free Appropriate Sustainability Technology) group. Our team developed a low-cost filament spooling system to support FAST’s on-campus plastic recycling process, enabling recycled filament from failed 3D prints to be spooled and reused. The project aimed to improve accessibility, material reuse, and cost-effectiveness within an open-source and educational setting.
