Background

[edit | edit source]

Me and my roommates own a projector that we use in place of a TV for our living room. We were looking for a way to mount the projector and saw that the house we rent has a wall mount for a TV.

I took this project an opportunity to learn about Topology Optimization in Fusion 360, as well as the other simulation tools available. The goal of this project was to create and 3D print a functional model using the simulation tools available to me in Fusion 360.

Process

[edit | edit source]

I took some simple measurements of the wall mount and created a very simple shape that would be able to slide onto the mount. I then created a simulation in Fusion 360 with the constraints I wanted, and used the optimized mesh Fusion gave me as a guideline to create an optimal bracket. I then printed 2 of these brackets and bolted on a piece of plywood as a platform to then place our projector on.

Results

This project resulted in me advancing my knowledge in Fusion 360s simulations as well as designing with topology optimization. I had also gained experience in the development of a project from start to finish.

This project also allowed me to publish my first project online for others to download.
