Uterine Tissue — The uterus consists of three functionally distinct layers: the perimetrium (outer visceral peritoneum), myometrium (thick muscular wall), and endometrium (inner mucosal lining). Those three layers together are the uterine wall. The uterus is also called the womb, so womb tissue names the same tissue. Endometrial tissue is the endometrium alone, the layer that hysteroscopy, endometrial biopsy and uterine curettage work on. The fundus and uterine body are the myometrium and endometrium of the uterine corpus, where a blastocyst implants and where the myometrium contracts in labour.
