Cervix is the lower, narrow portion of the uterus that projects into the vaginal canal. Nulliparous and parous cervixes differ in os shape and cervical dimensions. The cervical epithelium is its surface lining, squamous on the ectocervix and columnar within the endocervical canal, and this cervical tissue is the surface a screening model has to present. The squamocolumnar junction between the two epithelia is where dysplasia most often develops, so it is the landmark screening training must find. An acetowhite lesion is epithelium that turns white when acetic acid is applied, and recognising it is the point of visual-inspection practice.
