Cigarette paper is a thin, lightweight, semi-translucent paper made from processed cellulose fibre such as flax, hemp, or wood pulp. Manufactured at very low basis weight, it is delicate and friable, and becomes soft and pliable when moistened — properties that let it stand in for thin, fragile tissue in medical simulation.
