The Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA) was formed in 2003 as a Joint Powers Authority (JPA), representing seven municipalities (the Cities of Arcata, Blue Lake, Eureka, Ferndale, Fortuna, Trinidad and Rio Dell) in Humboldt County, CA.

Mission[edit | edit source]

The Redwood Coast Energy Authority's (RCEA) purpose is to develop and implement sustainable energy initiatives that reduce energy demand, increase energy efficiency, and advance the use of clean, efficient and renewable resources available in the region.

RCEA energy audit reviews[edit | edit source]

The Redwood Coast Energy Authority retrofit analysis project is a class project to determine the effectiveness of RCEA energy retrofits at a range of businesses in Humboldt County, CA. Students created pages to determine the amount of energy saved, carbon dioxide reductions, money saved by implementing the retrofits. Students also determined the payback time of the retrofits for the businesses.

RCEA educational boxes[edit | edit source]

Students in Introduction to Design (Engr215), at Humboldt State University, worked with the Redwood Coast Energy Authority in Spring 2010 to build energy education boxes for classrooms in Humboldt County. These boxes are designed for different K-12 grade ranges and cover one of three topics: energy conservation, renewable energy or climate change. Each team designed one of the boxes shown below.
