I started with a number of guidelines in terms of what to consider and came up with probably a similar list to what I imagine many of you are already aiming for.

Criteria[edit | edit source]

initial sketch of small quantity water redirection trough, water wheel, and other possible components

Summarized in the following are loose goals and hard limits (among others):

Cost[edit | edit source]

As cheap as possible or free, which includes

  • Can't require extremely technical/ unavailable skills
  • Can't require more time/ intense labor than a typical small family can supply
  • Prefer using scrap/ waste, or reuseables

Limitations[edit | edit source]

Fastidiously avoid

  • Adding to pollution, or continuing to use polluting materials in a way where they are still seeping, offgassing, or otherwise not being contained or remediated
  • Minimizing the impact of harvesting any natural materials

Please check out my sketches/ notes, below. i'd love to hear your thoughts. I'll be providing cleaner illustrations, typed notes, etc, soon, so sorry about the current sloppiness! (thanks for stopping by!)
