Grassroot Urban Innovation projects
The Global Urban Grassroots Innovation Fund is a grant programme implemented by the Global Innovation Gathering (GIG) and funded by the Judith Neilson Foundation (JNF). It supports grassroots innovators in global majority countries who develop open technologies and social processes to make cities more resilient, inclusive and adaptive. This page brings together the projects of the 2026-2027 cohort and links to their open documentation, wherever its published.
As part of the programme, the teams take part in the Open Source Documentation Module, a learning module created by the Appropedia Foundation to strengthen how makers and innovators document, license and share their work.
