Global Ecovillage Network/Solution Library/Permaculture example in wisconsin

About the challenge
[edit | edit source]Lack of on-the-ground, practical, local models of larger-scale permaculture projects that work in the real world.
Description
[edit | edit source]Just wanted to make people aware of this local resource in the form of Mark Shepard's New Forest Farm, 106 acres in Viola, WI. It's an 18-year-old permaculture designed property which involves numerous species of plants (including chestnuts, hazelnuts, grapes, annuals, and mushrooms) as well as animals grazed in a rotating, managed paddock system (including steer, pigs, and poultry). Tours are offered and he has a book called 'Restoration Agriculture' which is very informative.
I want to mention that I'm not affiliated with the farm in any way, just a person who has read Mark's book and visited the farm once.
