Global Ecovillage Network/Solution Library/Making a toilet tissue holder with plastic bottle

About the challenge
[edit | edit source]One reason people find it difficult to use the local pit toilet, which is more environmentally friendly, is that there is usually no tissue in the toilets, and if there is, it is either exposed, lying on the toilet floor, or soaked with water or urine. And this is not hygienically acceptable.
Description
[edit | edit source]What you need
[edit | edit source]An empty transparent plastic 5-liter container, a 6 to 8-inch nail or metal rod.
What to do
[edit | edit source]- Step 1: Cut out the top of the bottle ¾ way and keep the cover.
- Step 2: Make a hole in the middle of the bottle from right to left.
- Step 3: Pass the metal rod through the hole and the tissue, and hang it on your toilet wall where it is accessible. Your tissue holder is usable and waterproof. The toilet tissue holder suspends the tissue, covers it, prevents water from soaking the tissue, and prevents it from falling to the toilet floor or pod.
It is also easy to roll out some tissue after using the toilet. This can be used both in pit toilets and modern toilets especially those toilets that are constructed in combination with baths.
