About the challenge
[edit | edit source]Re-creating the natural diversity in our social demographic that’s been subverted by suburban models of settlement. The cross-generational learning, sharing, and support that was lost due to ‘urban planning’ and the rise of the nuclear single-family home in the 20th century needs to be reclaimed in our communities.
I'm happy to report that my inner child is still ageless.
Description
[edit | edit source]By designing our communities to encourage and facilitate a wide diversity of ages and stages of life from day care and preschools to assisted living and aged care we can reclaim the extended family that is often non-existent in the modern world. Day to day mixing in town/village centres and gathering places for recreation, play, entertainment, sport, music, theatre and art can add richness and texture to our community fabric.
