About the challenge

[edit | edit source]

Failure of sanitation and water infrastructure projects due to a lack of behavioral change among locals.

Lecture on how and why behaviours around sanitation change.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Behaviour change is an essential factor for the successful implementation of water and sanitation projects to reach better hygiene and health standards. However, very often we do not know what motivates people to behave in this way or another, as well as which drivers or barriers play a crucial role in their behavioral choices. Hans-Joachim Mosler, an international expert in environmental psychology, explains his 'evidence-based behaviour change concept'. He shows how this approach can be helpful for our work regarding the fulfilment of the international goals on health and hygiene improvement in developing countries.
