About the challenge

[edit | edit source]

Waste, landfills, parenting, natural parenting, communication.

When we tap into our children's natural ability to communicate their elimination needs, we can raise babies without diapers!

Description

[edit | edit source]

Babies are born with a natural ability to control their sphincter muscles on a basic level. When we put diapers on them, they gradually lose this natural ability, and then at the age of 2 or so, we need to re-teach them something that they already knew - that is, we need to fix what we have broken!

Furthermore, babies are born with an innate expectation of us parents to respond to their elimination needs & signals, and to take them somewhere to eliminate when needed. For centuries, babies were raised without diapers, and they still are in many parts of the world.

Fortunately, we can re-learn how to tap into our babies' natural signals and support them in eliminating in a 'proper' spot such as a potty, toilet, tree, etc.

Raising diaper-free babies is an amazing process that connects us with our baby, promotes bonding and communication, and of course saves LOTS of waste and money!
