First aid kit

First aid kits are staples in the attention to emergencies of different types. First aid kits were possibly first assembled by Johnson & Johnson in 1888.[1]
Assembling a first aid kit
[edit | edit source]
First, establish the space's requirements, for example, for home, a school, makerspace or community center. Then, identify specific needs according to your environmental risks, for example: special medications needed for you or your group members, specific threats (epidemics, natural disaster, workplace risks). You can find through a plethora of first aid kits lists with your specific requirements in mind online and other technical documentation.
See below a basic list that can be used as a starter kit.
- First aid manual or instructions
- Adhesive bandages (of various sizes)
- Sterile gauze pads
- Adhesive tape
- Antiseptic wipes or solution
- Tweezers
- Scissors
- Pain relievers (e.g., ibuprofen or acetaminophen)
- Antihistamines (for allergic reactions)
- Elastic bandage (for sprains)
- Instant cold packs
- N95 masks
- Nitrile gloves
