Chaguar/en

Chaguar is a textile fiber (from the plant of the same name) that is processed in an artisanal way by the Wichi community (Argentina). It is used to make various products and generally most of the process (from harvesting to spinning, weaving and dyeing) is carried out by the women of the community. The result is a material similar to linen, hemp and jute since these are fibers obtained from the stem of the plant.
For now, it remains an artisanal production. There have been several attempts to industrialize the process, but there was no success due to problems with the local market.
