Cable Junction Enclosure

From Appropedia
3D Image of the Cable Junction Enclosure

The Cable Junction Enclosure is a 3D printed container designed to house and protect electrical cable connections. It conceals junctions from sight and helps deter tampering, providing a cleaner and more secure alternative to exposed wiring connections.

The enclosure is 3D printed using ABS plastic and consists of two separately generated parts: a case and a lid. Both parts are customizable, allowing dimensions to be adjusted to fit the specific size and number of cable connections being housed.

Usage Notes

  • Adjust the dimensions in the Customizer tool to suit your specific requirements, generating the case and lid separately.
  • The height of the case and lid can be adjusted independently to control the position of the entry/exit cable hole(s) relative to the enclosure's overall height. For example, setting the case height to 20 mm and the lid height to 40 mm still produces a 30 mm overall enclosure height, but shifts the entry/exit holes 5 mm closer to the bottom of the case.

About the manuals

Field Ready develops manuals to support both the fabrication and safe use of its products. A maker manual provides step-by-step instructions for replicating the design, including materials, tools, and assembly guidance, so that makers in different locations can build the product accurately and consistently. A user manual, where applicable, explains how to properly set up, use, and maintain the product once it is built, helping ensure it performs safely and as intended for the end user. Together, these manuals make the design accessible to both fabricators and the people who ultimately rely on the product.
