Welcome!

Hi M. Urquhart,

Welcome to the Appropedia wiki. Please make yourself at home! If you need a general wiki-tutorial, see the main help page (or the more in-depth one on WikiEducator).

Check your preferences and be sure you verify your email address and turn on email notification if you'd like it -- you can find out when your talk page, or any page on your watchlist, is modified. You may want to upload a photo or information about yourself to your userpage (which is at http://appropedia.org/User:M._Urquhart).

If you have a particular interest or project in mind, go ahead and start it! If you have questions or suggestions, the best place to leave them is at the Village pump - you should get a fast response. Or, feel free to leave me a note on my talk page if you have further questions, need help finding your way around, have a cool idea for a project, or just want to chat.

Glad to have you here!

Dear Matt,
Great article and topic! There are a couple of things you could do to make the article more accessible to those that don’t have a science background and to clarify things for those that do.

  • I think your introduction could use a bit of expansion. I’ve added a number of links to Wikipedia articles for the interim.
  • The page doesn’t link to any other appropedia pages, except through the MECH370 category. I didn't catch anything that currently has an appropedia page, but if you think of any, you should link them.
  • In the introduction, what are the variables that must be precisely controlled?
  • With reference to the last line in your intro, what are the viable alternatives to induction heating for annealing purposes?
  • In the induction heating section, what affect does the frequency of the AC source have on the process?
  • Under efficiency, is it possible to quantify the effects of an impeder or using induction heating for testing purposes on efficiency?
  • Under applications of technology, has this process revolutionized any of the areas that it is applied in? Many of these process seem like they could be done with an oven, so is it just more convenient/efficient to do it this way?

Overall, great stuff. I hope you keep updating it in the future.

Tiny template fix - nothing important

Hi M. Urquhart (your name reminds me of the character in the British series "A House of Cards" - fantastic show).

Hope you're well, and that you're still visiting here sometimes.

I just made a tiny edit to your userpage, while updating the Wikipedia-link template ({{w}}). Nothing important, just an "excuse me" while I fix that up.

Cheers! --Chriswaterguy 12:05, 14 March 2012 (PDT)
