Welcome to the Appropedia wiki. Please make yourself at home! If you need a general wiki-tutorial, see the main help page (or the more in-depth one on WikiEducator).

Check your preferences and be sure you verify your email address and turn on email notification if you'd like it -- you can find out when your talk page, or any page on your watchlist, is modified. You may want to upload a photo or information about yourself to your userpage (which is at http://appropedia.org/User:L.Crofoot).

If you have a particular interest or project in mind, go ahead and start it! If you have questions or suggestions, the best place to leave them is at the Village pump - you should get a fast response. Or, feel free to leave me a note on my talk page if you have further questions, need help finding your way around, have a cool idea for a project, or just want to chat.

Glad to have you here!

Your opinion on Charcoal cooling

Hello L. Crofoot,

I wanted to seek out your help with an idea I had. I am trying to figure out effective ways to cool a 8ft X 20ft room. I am exploring options in all different price ranges. I like the idea of charcoal cooling but I am wondering if it will work for my setup...

I am planning on having individual stalls that are 8 ft by 20 ft. I want to wet the charcoal walls and use a fan to pull air out the top using a fan.

My first question is... Is the room too large for this type of cooling? I assume that if I can get a fan large enough (CFM) to balance with the water input/evaporation I can make it work, but as far as the setup (pulling air up through a fan, and room size) what is you opinion on the subject.

I am working as an advisor in Afghanistan. Your help, if able would be very valuable to me.

Thanks,
