Hi Robin - thanks for your good work on Guerrilla gardening! Do you mind if I ask how you found Appropedia?

Looks like you're already comfortable with using a wiki, but I'll share our standard welcome anyway. See you around. --Chriswaterguy 11:09, 30 August 2011 (PDT)

Hi Chriswaterguy, I was pleased to see you improving my work. I got 2 referrals in 2 days. The first one I found myself on WWW (Wikipedia, I think, but not certain, am looking at hundreds of wikipedia pages a day at the moment) and another was the following day by EMail from a friend. --Robin 11:55, 30 August 2011 (PDT)

Cool - I'm looking for ways we can get a lot more referrals happening - there are a lot of people that haven't found Appropedia yet :-). --Chriswaterguy 03:47, 1 September 2011 (PDT)
For extra referrals, you might want to check out a piece of software I am actively working on, Wikipedia+. I'd be interested to hear any thoughts.--Robin 05:09, 2 September 2011 (PDT)
Cool! Is there any particular process for being one of the sources that Wikipedia+ looks up? --Chriswaterguy 10:30, 16 September 2011 (PDT)
The GUI lets you edit which sites the addin looks up. To get a WP+ enabled site included as a default source, you need to contact one of the developers -- that'd be me :)Robin 19:37, 16 September 2011 (PDT)
Cool - I'll leave that in your capable hands, then! :-)
Is Appropedia Wikipedia+ ready? If so, what's the access URL? I've just added DKosopedia, which required no work on their part, since someone had taken the forward-thinking step of copying the Wikipedia page titles for corresponding pages. This doesn't appear to be the case for Appropedia. The first step is to choose an access URL (e.g. do you want a separate namespace for WP) and then ensure that there are a reasonable number of good pages accessible that match Wikipedia. Otherwise we're just wasting CPU and bandwidth. :-) Robin 09:19, 28 September 2011 (PDT)
As you have technical skills, you may be interested in giving feedback on some of the tasks/questions at our BetterMeans workstream. Any tips much appreciated. --Chriswaterguy 23:04, 25 September 2011 (PDT)
Will check it out.Robin 09:19, 28 September 2011 (PDT)

Welcome![edit source]

Appropedia-logo.jpg

Hi Robin,

Welcome to the Appropedia wiki. Please make yourself at home! If you need a general wiki-tutorial, see the main help page (or the more in-depth one on WikiEducator).

Check your preferences and be sure you verify your email address and turn on email notification if you'd like it -- you can find out when your talk page, or any page on your watchlist, is modified. You may want to upload a photo or information about yourself to your userpage (which is at User:Robin).

If you have a particular interest or project in mind, go ahead and start it! If you have questions or suggestions, the best place to leave them is at our community discussion page, which we call the Village pump - you should get a fast response. Or, feel free to leave me a note on my talk page if you have further questions, need help finding your way around, have a cool idea for a project, or just want to chat.

Glad to have you here!

Mabolo & Papaya[edit source]

Hi Robin,

Thanks for creating the Mabolo & Papaya pages! I moved them to have those short names, as they didn't need to be subpages (Guerrilla_gardening/Mabolo and Guerrilla gardening/Papaya). This way, if anyone links one of those words, it will point to the right article.

I hope you're ok with that. We don't have a policy against subpages, but we normally save them for related pages in a single project (and even then they're not the only way to do it - a category can also keep track of all the relevant pages).

Thanks again! --Chriswaterguy 07:45, 30 September 2011 (PDT)
