Contributions Solar Tracking System Using Arduino

I am a Sri Lankan citizen living in Sri Lanka and an Electrical Engineer by profession.

My interests are in renewable energy, specially solar and wind energy. I am passionate about researching and experimenting things we can't yet understand.

Academic Life[edit | edit source]

I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2020 January. I have completed several projects during my degree. "Design and optimization of microstrip antenna for microwave imaging of breast cancers" was my final year group project which we observed the major characteristics of microstrip antennas that have different dimensions, using HFSS simulations and implementing the best performing antenna to according to simulations and lastly verifying the performance of the fabricated antenna using an experimental setup. Our aim was to reduce the use of harmful tumor detection methods like MRI or mammogram which can cause cancer itself from frequent use.

I have done couple projects related to solar energy. Implementing a "Solar Tracking System Using Arduino" was one of those two projects. In that project I have created Solar PV System which tracks the Sun and positions the solar panels accordingly to get the maximum sunlight throughout the day. The other project was "Arduino Based Green House Monitoring and Recording System". The aim of this was to create a small size greenhouses for urban people whom they are unable to interact with the greenhouse plants every day due to their busy life. In this project I have automated the basic day to day works in the green house and added a recording device to record the status of the plants so the owner can look out for any changes in environment without having to check directly.
