Introduction:
Rafaella Sucre is a college student at Cal Poly Humboldt, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Resources Engineering. She is the daughter of Janice Bremner, DVM, and Eliza Sucre, DVM (Deceased). Rafaella was born in Carmichael, CA, but grew up in Magalia, CA.
Education:
Preschool through high school education took place in the town adjacent to her hometown, Paradise, CA. Before she moved to Arcata, CA to go to Cal Poly Humboldt, she took a variety of general education and prerequisite classes at the nearby community college, Butte College in Oroville, CA. In college she has taken many courses to work towards her degree, such as:
- College algebra
- Trigonometry
- Calculus I & II
- Intro to Engineering
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Intro to Design
She also has taken part in one semester of undergraduate study, where she helped monitor Professor Hurst with the transformation of DOC in the Arcata Marsh.
Experience:
Although she hasn't worked in any fields of interest, she has work experience dating back to 2021, when she began working at her mother's veterinarian hospital. She worked as a veterinarian assistant there until 2024. She also worked in retail at Journeys, from 2023 to 2025. She occasionally house and pet sit as well. These occupations taught her a significant amount about work ethic, teamwork, and people skills.
Interests:
Rafaella has a special interest in nature, especially after growing up on a ridge that was burned down in the 2018 Camp Fire. Watching a beautiful, rural, and fertile area turn to ash allowed her to appreciate nature more than ever. She feels passionate about protecting the environment, the living and nonliving. Hiking, bike riding, swimming, and anything that can be done outdoors is one of Rafaella's favorite ways to spend her time.
She has a great interest in animals as well, notably, cats. She grew up around many cats and has 2 of her own with her while she's away for college.
Relationships:
Rafaella has a boyfriend of 5 years, and 2 best friends who are now her college roommates, dating back to preschool and elementary school.
