My name is Poppy Edge, and I am a sophomore at Cal Poly Humboldt. I am currently working towards getting my Bachelor's degree in energy systems engineering. I completed my general AA in high school, doing dual enrollment with Spokane Falls Community College. I am a student athlete and in my second year competing on the women's collegiate triathlon team. I plan to go into Nuclear engineering after getting my bachelor's. My interest in nuclear engineering stems from an environmentalist perspective. I see nuclear energy as the future for sustainable energy. I plan to get my master's degree in nuclear energy and eventually get a job in the field.

I have been an athlete my whole life and have learned to appreciate hard work through my athletics. I have an understanding of dealing with pressure and a need to perform. My love for the challenge of athletics has helped me outside of my sports and taught me what it means to work for my goals.

School and athletics are very important to me, but I am very passionate about my creativity. I have painted two murals in my hometown in Washington State, including one on a three-story building. I spend my free time fitting in pottery, woodworking, and oil painting. In engineering, I can see the importance of being innovative and understanding the creative process to incorporate it in projects.
