I am a Enviromental Engineer, currently studding at Humboldt State Universiy, and I am really enjoying it. This page is meant to be a portfolio of my work that I have accomplished during my time studding at school, and the skills that I have as an Engineer.

Recent Project[edit | edit source]

Figure 1. The Simple Simon

During the Fall semester of 2008, I worked on a Universal Nut sheller called the Simple Simon. As seen in Figure 1 is a picture of the final product. I worked on this project on a team called the None Shucks. This team included: Brett Vivyan,Heidi Halverson, and Travis Brabant. The main goal of this project was to improve upon the exsisting Universal Nut sheller made by the Full Belly Project, so that it would be more suitable for a United States market.

Skills[edit | edit source]

Over the years I have learned several skills that have helped me in my Engineering career, which include:

  • Wood working
  • Metal working
  • Working with electronics
  • Sculpting skills

Using Ampersands in titles[edit source]

Hi,

I noticed that you are trying to use ampersands in titles. As you probably noticed that causes a strange problem where the title breaks at the ampersand giving you just the pagename preceding the &. Two ideas:

  1. Just include the content in your main bird page.
  2. Use a different name that does not use an '&'.

Here is the text from the Pelican page that I deleted (just copy and paste, even though the content goes off the screen in this view):

[[Image:Brownpelican.jpg|thumb|left|Brown Pelican, taken by Dustin Poppendieck]]'''Brown Pelican''':''Pelecanus occidentails'':" Pelicans have a large "pouch" on their bill which enables them to scoop up fish while flying. They are often seen flying over the bay waters, and some times fly in V-formation with others of their species. The Brown Pelican was also once threated with extinction by DDT. They can usually be seen during the summer and fall months."<ref>Bulger, Suzie. "The Beginners Guide to Birding at the Arcata Marsh" FOAM 1996</ref>

Rights and permission for content[edit source]

Hi,

Thank you for fixing the page names. I just noticed that many of the individual bird pages are mostly quotes. We must have permission from the creator of that content to post under an open license. An open license means that anyone can edit and repost their content. Many authors are not ready to open up their content in that way. There are some hints for searching already open content at Open_content#Searching_for_open_content. Feel free to ask for permission from the original author or put content in your own words based upon multiple sources.

Thank you, --Lonny 22:46, 20 April 2008 (PDT)
