Kareena Sen is currently enrolled at Western University in her fourth year of Honours Specialization in Computer Science. She recently completed a 16-month internship at Septodont, a pharmaceutical company specializing in dental injectables, where she worked as a Production Support Engineering Intern. In this role, she worked extensively with production data, analyzing trends, troubleshooting issues, and supporting operational excellence initiatives. She also gained hands-on experience with industrial IoT through Shoplogix, an Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) platform, where she developed an understanding of how manufacturing equipment, network infrastructure, servers, and cloud systems work together to collect and communicate production data. She also developed data visualization models and connected multiple data sources to make production information more accessible for decision-making.

Through her academic and professional experiences, Kareena has developed a strong interest in the intersection of computer science, artificial intelligence, hardware, and real-world applications. She is particularly interested in exploring how technology can be used to address challenges in healthcare and engineering.

AstroGrip - Astronaut Hand Health Monitoring

[edit | edit source]

AstroGrip is an AI-driven hand health monitoring system developed to evaluate astronauts’ hand function using computer vision, machine learning, and real-time data analysis. The system captures and analyzes a range of hand metrics, including grip strength, precision, tremor, finger stability, and range of motion, to identify changes in hand performance and immediately provides personalized feedback. The application integrates MediaPipe-based hand tracking and machine learning models through a Python and Flask backend with a dynamic JavaScript, HTML, and CSS frontend, enabling the processing and visualization of hand health data through a unified interface. Docker containerization was implemented to improve compatibility and deployment across different environments, allowing the AI models, backend services, and frontend components to operate cohesively.

North American Capital Word Chain Game

[edit | edit source]

The North American Capital Word Chain Game is a Java-based educational software application designed to strengthen users’ knowledge of North American geography through an interactive word-chain game. The system requires players to form word chains using states, provinces, and their corresponding capital cities, with each response determined by the final letter of the previous word. The application integrates user authentication, progressive difficulty levels, game-state persistence, scoring and achievement systems, CSV-based leaderboard management, and instructor functionality for monitoring student progress. Its architecture combines object-oriented programming, file I/O, input validation, game-state management, and graphical user interface development to create an interactive learning environment with real-time feedback, progress tracking, and performance-based progression.
